At release there will be plenty of people buying gold to balance things out, I believe. For instance, right now we are in beta and im pretty sure barely nobody is actually buying gold with real money. The main source of gold income is the few founders that join everyday and sell their gold for some quick silver. Even now the price of premium bought with silver for 30days is far from hard to get.
Obviously theres other things to account for after release such as difficulty to farm silver or find mobs with full silver or even the AO Silver rate we'll have. There will be way more competition for silver.
AOSilver believe the gold price will hardly spiral out of control. If the gold price skyrockets duo to lack of players buying gold with real money then there will be many players that wont mind dropping a few euros to get that gold and then balance the price of it again to Buy Albion Online Silver. I for one will avoid spending any real money on premium, if for some reason I cant afford to do it with silver every month and then I dont mind dropping few euros to stay competitive.
Silver/gold ratio will balance itself so only something like 10% of population will be able/willing to buy premium with silver. You need to remember - you never actually buying premium with silver - you actually buying gold. And for you to buy gold somebody must to buy this gold first for real money and put for exchange. So from developer POV it doesnt matter if you are paying with gold or silver - if you are paying with silver that means somebody just bought subscription for you.
From player POV if its easy to obtain enough silver to buy premium, than there is no point to buying gold to sell for silver. You just can get silver yourself, right. But if nobody selling gold price of the gold skyrockets, and so the price of premium in silver.
Something to keep in mind too with this is that the only real driving value of Gold comes from the high desire to buy premium with it. This is why if premium benefits are nerfed too much to where players can say, "I don't really need premium" then so does the demand for Gold drop. So Gold will have to continue to have a real purpose for it to work.
The above quote I believe to be very true in the current model. When the price of Gold begins to skyrocket it will lead to players investing in a little gold to sell for huge silver gains.
